Happy Summer to all of you. Hopefully you are well, enjoying this beautiful time of the year.
Summer brings the opportunity to eat many healthy fresh foods, if you garden or not…. Farmers Markets make it possible to eat local farm fresh produce in most communities.
Summer is also a great time to be more active, go on longer walks, maybe swim, and work-out outdoors because we have many more daylight hours. Enjoy all of that to the fullest, because it does add a huge health boost, for example a boost in immunity.
I really feel my best in warm summer weather, I hope you do too.
Dr. Jenny Hobson who I met because I have been supporting a trial in this country for KBMO Diagnostics, asked me to share my knowledge during a podcast she is regularly hosting. For all my clients who knew about it and missed it, please watch below. For anyone who has a deeper interest in my work, and wants to learn about inflammation, food sensitivities and gut health, please watch.
As I talk so much about the FIT Test, the Food Inflammation Test and the Gut Barrier Panel, please read some information from KBMO Diagnostics below. Please reach out if you have any questions. I am here for you.
The Food Inflammation Test (FIT Test)
What Does the FIT Test Measure?
The FIT Test checks delayed food sensitivities and leaky gut markers by measuring:
IgG and C3d: Signs of inflammation from immune responses to foods
IgA: A gut immune marker
Zonulin, Occludin, LPS and Candida antibodies: Indicate if the gut barrier has been damaged
Why This Matters for You
If you test positive for markers like Zonulin, Occludin, LPS or Candida, it suggests your gut lining might be compromised. Removing triggering foods and supporting gut healing can:
- Reduce inflammation
- Improve digestion and energy
- Support brain health
LPS (Lipopolysaccharide)
LPS (Lipopolysaccharide) is a toxin found on many harmful bacteria, especially those that cause infections. It powerfully activates the immune system and triggers inflammation by releasing chemicals called cytokines.
LPS can damage the gut lining—contributing to leaky gut—and may even cross into the brain, where it can affect mood, focus, and energy.

The Gut Barrier Panel (GBP)
What Is the Gut Barrier and Why Is It Important?
Your gut lining acts like a protective wall, keeping harmful substances (like undigested food, bacteria, and toxins) out of your bloodstream.
When this wall gets "leaky," it can lead to inflammation and cause a wide range of symptoms.
What Causes a Leaky Gut?
Leaky gut happens when tiny openings form between the cells lining your intestines. This can happen because of:
- Certain foods (like gluten) that we are sensitive to
- Overgrowth of bacteria, viruses, or yeast
- Stress or infections
- Inflammation caused by the immune system
Candida and the Gut
Candida albicans is a type of yeast that naturally lives in your body.
But when it overgrows (especially after taking antibiotics), it can damage your gut lining and get into your bloodstream—triggering more immune responses and inflammation.
The Role of Zonulin and Occludin
These are proteins that help keep your gut lining tight. When your body releases too much Zonulin, it can open up the tight junctions in your gut wall, leading to leaky gut.
Occludin is another important part of this barrier, and damage to it can also contribute to leaky gut.

Please reach out if you are ready to re-test to see where your food sensitivities stand, and how your gut has improved with the work you have been doing. These topics have become so fascinating to me, because my clients experience huge health improvements on so many different levels. I am very grateful to be part of so many positive healing stories with the support of the FIT Test and Gut Barrier Panel from KBMO Diagnostics.
Wishing you lots of sunshine, health, and happiness.
Love,
Silke
