Hopefully you had a lovely Thanksgiving, with lots of nutrient dense foods, fun with your family and friends, and time to reflect on what you are grateful for.
It is my favorite dinner… Turkey is a low-fat, high-protein centerpiece, providing essential B vitamins and minerals. A 100 g serving of roasted turkey meat delivers 30.9 g of protein, has 190 kcal, and 7.4 g fat. It is an excellent source of B 3, B 6, and B 12. It also provides zinc and selenium for immune support. Leaner cuts can offer 24 g of protein with minimal fat per serving.
When you are reading this, Thanksgiving will be over, but it is also a great festive meal during the Advent and Christmas season.
The Christmas season is here…. Crazy how fast this year went by. As I am studying in Dr. Daniel Amen’s program to become a certified ELITE Brain Health Coach, which is an amazing program that requires lots of studying for the next 6 months, I am thinking daily about my priorities. If I don’t sort out what is the most or least important right now, I will get frustrated by the end of the day, because I am unable to fit it all in. I am encouraging you to 'prioritize' this Christmas season, concentrate on the healthiest foods, the most effective fun workouts, prioritize healthy choices, time to enjoy this beautiful season, and take time for self-care.
As I grew up in Germany and moved here when I was 34 years old, Christmas is a time to become more quiet and look inwards. I will try that this year during this holiday season, and make room for reflection, mindfulness, family and friends, and hopefully a good book….
The Major Risk Factors That Harm the Brain
and Steal Your Mind
We’ll work together to replace old routines with balanced, satisfying meals that fuel your goals—from improving focus to feeling lighter and more vibrant every day. My approach isn’t about quick fixes or rigid diets—it’s about creating a healthy personalized plan that works for you. Step by step, you’ll discover how small, consistent changes can lead to powerful transformations, and how great it feels to truly thrive in your own body.
Real change begins with one simple decision—to take better care of yourself. But change doesn’t have to be overwhelming or restrictive. It’s about learning how to make nourishing choices that honor your body and fit naturally into your daily life. As your nutritionist, I’ll be your guide and support system, helping you turn confusion into clarity and habits into tools for lasting energy, confidence, and wellness.
Research shows that meaningful health transformations are built on small, consistent steps, not radical overhauls. A landmark study from Duke University (Lally et al., European Journal of Social Psychology, 2010) found it can take about 66 days on average to form a new habit that truly sticks—proof that consistency matters more than perfection.
Another study published in Health Psychology (Rothman et al., 2015) demonstrated that people who focus on intrinsic motivation—like feeling stronger, having more energy, or improving mood—are far more likely to maintain healthy eating patterns long-term.
These findings echo what I teach every day:
Change isn't instant, but it is possible when guided with intention and heart.
Together, we’ll create a plan that supports your goals, celebrates your progress, and helps you stay connected to your “why.”
USE THIS AFFIRMATION:
“Every mindful choice I make brings me closer to the healthiest, most vibrant version of myself.”
I have received this beautiful testimony from my client Gary, that I would love to share:
"At 66 years of age, I have learned that growing older is a blessing that not everyone gets the opportunity to embrace. Living a healthy life becomes even more important as we age. Staying active, a healthy love life, socially engaged, getting enough sleep, keeping the mind sharp and eating healthy all play into that journey.
Eating healthy is a never ending focus for me. What I was lacking, however, was the visibility as to whether any of the foods that I eat are an unknown source of inflammation. The Food Inflammation Test that Simplify (Silke) offers tests over xxx types of food for sensitivities that you would otherwise not be aware of, the long term effects of which could be debilitating.
My test results identified some foods that I eat every day as a source of inflammation. I needed to avoid them - what a great find!
Having had 2 recent knee surgeries, altering my diet based on these test results I feel has aided in my recovery to the point where I was again able to compete in ‘Spartan Ultra Beast’ competitions – not to mention the ongoing long term health benefits. Thank you Silke!"
