Hopefully you are doing well during this beautiful season. As I am constantly searching for new knowledge to help you all better, I decided to become a certified Elite Brain Health Coach by Dr. Daniel Amen. I have studied in a program from him before, and I am fascinated by his work. When Dr. Rudy Tanzi spoke about his findings and research with Harvard Medical School about the Gut- Brain- Axis, I was in NY at the Integrative Healthcare Symposium. It blew everyone away.

We also understand that inflammation is hurting our brain.

My mom's brain was perfect until the last hours of her life by the age of 95. At an age of 60 and my husband being 65, we want to keep our brains as healthy as possible. The Gut Barrier Panel (GBP)

 

KBMO’s Gut Barrier Panel is included with the FIT 176, FIT 132, and FIT 22 Plus Tests and is also available as a stand-alone test.

 

In recognition that leaky gut occurs across a spectrum, and has several precursors, KBMO includes the following gatekeeper markers: Candida, Zonulin, Occludin and Lipopolysaccharides (LPS). For each marker, the Gut Barrier Panel measures IgG 1-4 /C3d (more symptomatic) in addition to IgA 1 and 2 (a more silent occurrence).

 

Candida

 

Candida overgrowth in the stomach/dysbiosis is measured as a precursor to leaky gut occurrence.

 

Zonulin

 

Zonulin is a marker of intestinal permeability, otherwise known as leaky gut. If a client has elevated Zonulin levels, the normal regulation of the tight junctions is compromised. This Zonulin marker is unique to KBMO Diagnostic.

 

Occludin

Occludin is a marker of tight junction stabilization and optimal barrier function. Elevated Occludin indicates that the tight junctions are breaking down.

 

Lipopolysaccharides (LPS)

LPS is a major structural component of the outer membrane of gram-negative bacteria. Elevated levels of antibody against LPS may be indicative of Leaky Gut Syndrome and other gastrointestinal inflammatory diseases.

 

GB Panel Interpretation

If any of the 8 markers are positive, my expertise and consultation will give you guidance.

Depending on my clients age, severity of symptoms, and overall health, dietary changes might be enough to improve the outcome. Sometimes supplements can be helpful and might be recommended.

 

 

 

The GB Panel removes the guesswork!

You can of course re-test with a FIT Test that includes Food Sensitivities, Inflammation, and the Gut Barrier Panel, or you chose to check just on the markers provided in the Gut Barrier Panel. It is best to re-test after a few months of concentrating on all recommendations to improve your gut health. Removing the foods that you are sensitive to and that cause inflammation in you might be enough.... But it is good to check when you are ready.

Some of you have asked me about what I eat. Personally I eat a probably 70- 80 % plant based diet, paired with animal protein from fish, little shellfish, chicken, duck (during the holidays), and turkey. I am not a fan of some high- processed plant based meat substitutes, but if you like to make your own lentil or bean burgers, that is a great choice too.
